Sencha green tea

Sencha is a special green tea which is prepared according to an ancient recipe. This special method of preparation brings various health benefits. In contrast to black tea the green tea leaves are not fermented, thus not chemically altered, ensuring that the majority of its natural vitamins and minerals can be preserved. The contained theine acts more slowly than caffeine and its effects last longer.

Green tea has a long tradition in China. Due to the thousands of years of experience, an enormous diversity of varieties and different tastes has developed. There are also many different ways of preparing the tea. China has the world’s largest tea plantations, 75 per cent of the world’s green tea production originate there. Green tea is known as China’s national beverage, the Chinese drink it at every occasion. Tea ceremonies for welcoming guests as a sign of friendship and hospitality are very common in China. The green tea’s positive effects on the human health have been known for a long time in China, which is why it is used as a remedy in Chinese medicine since its discovery.

Our Sencha green tea comes from an organic cooperative in China.

Açaí

This berry from the Amazon forests of Brazil has long been known as a superfruit in its country of origin. It contains a large amount of antioxidants as well as a high share of omega-3 fatty acids.

Açaí is a natural energy provider; it contains many proteins and vitamins.

The açaí berry was discovered by natives in the rainforests of the Amazon region, which is the world’s largest rainforest territory. They have been using it as medicinal plant for centuries, for example for treating tropical infections, to strengthen the immune system and as a source of energy.

Meanwhile, the fruit has been discovered by the other inhabitants of Brazil as well and today it is a well-known basic food that can be found in special markets. You can buy açaí juice on every beach. With the growing importance of açaí, the significance of the rainforest is increasing as well: the population in the Amazonas region lives on the cultivation of this berry and therefore no forests are cleared in the areas where it is found to grow.

Agave

For sweetening we don’t use granulated or isolated sugar. We use the natural juice of the Wild Agave, which has a very good glucose and fructose content. This very valuable from a nutritional point of view. Agave juice has a mild, pleasant sweetness and a high sweetening power but few calories.

The agave has long been very important for Mexico’s native peoples. All parts of the plant were used by them in some way. Agave juice, for example, was used by the Mayas for rituals as well as for medical purposes. The Aztecs considered the juice to be the blood of the gods. In Mexico there are over 130 different kinds of agave today and you can find huge areas under cultivation.

Our agave juice comes from an organic cooperative in Mexico.

Aronia

This medicinal plant originally comes from North America and is characterized by an outstandingly high content of antioxidants. Its colorants also contain a lot of polyphenols. Aronia contains a broad range of valuable vitamins as well as a large quantity of pectins.
While aronia is still rather unknown in Europe, it has been used for centuries in natural medicine. In Russia it has also been part of traditional medicine for many years.

Archaeological findings suggest that the aronia berry was used as a medicinal plant by the native peoples in North America in prehistoric times. That this berry survived the Ice Age and other extreme environmental conditions shows its resistance, which is also reflected in its effects. Aronia has been used by Native Americans for a long time as a winter food and as a medical remedy. With the destruction of the Native American culture it has fallen into oblivion, until it was recently re-discovered and brought to Europe.

We get our aronia from a small, family-led organic farm in Austria.

Ginger

Ginger has a long tradition as an important component of Asian cuisine. In Sri Lanka and India it is one of the most important healing plants; it contains essential oils and has a mild spicy flavor. It has warming qualities and exercises a positive effect on the stomach and digestion.

Our ginger comes from a Fairtrade-cooperative in Sri Lanka.

Jasmine

The scent of jasmine has a calming, relaxing effect on body and soul. With its characteristic aroma it gives all i need a very special taste.

Unfortunately, there are no organic jasmine blooms available yet. Therefore we use physically extracted jasmine oil. The oil is specifically produced for us and meets the standards of organic production.

Water from Austria

The good quality of Austrian water is legendary. This is why for brewing the ingredients we only use fresh water from the springs of Austria.

We use ingredients from different countries all over the world. We do this because we follow a global, holistic approach and want to contribute to changes all over the world. We buy directly from the local producers. In this way, we support them in securing their livelihood and encourage them to embrace organic farming methods. This promotes organic farming in countries where there is hardly any awareness for organic products and sustainability. The sustainable cultivation of açaí in Brazil, for example, prevents the deforestation of the rainforest.
